Turn Key Project Management
TelCom Construction, Inc. has knowledgeable management and quality control teams in place for the benefit of their customers. All projects have a preconstruction review by a construction Supervisor, which includes locates, job ride-out, checking prints for accuracy, and problem solving. Any discrepancies and any changes needed are relayed to the Project Manager immediately. In 2007, we implemented a mandatory in-house pre-construction meeting which includes the Project Manager, Job Supervisor, Controller and Project Coordinator. These meetings keep the communication open with all parties involved in the project.
The construction Supervisor does a drive through of the project with the construction Foreman to explain the details and/or construction concerns. The Supervisor explains what equipment is to be used and the proper set up as well as discusses the appropriate personnel needed to complete the project. The supervisor is also responsible for doing a drive-out on completed jobs to make sure clean up is complete and all materials are picked up.
Weekly toolbox safety meetings are presented to our construction crews by the job Foreman.
Some of the responsibilities of a Foreman is to set goals for daily production, be aware of locates, monitor equipment maintenance, maintain field as-builts and ensure that the job site is cleaned up properly and safely. Each day the foreman and supervisor assure that the as-built drawings are complete and accurate and match billing. Any discrepancies are addressed immediately.
Any complaints that arise are addressed immediately by phone to the homeowner or municipality. An on-site visit by the Supervisor is required before the clean up crew goes out to the site. Clean up is not considered complete until the Supervisor makes final approval.
Part of the Project Manager's responsibility is setting up the job, daily project management, material ordering and a general overseeing of the construction crews on each of their projects. Project management is a critical part of TelCom's quality control program.
Another part of TelCom's quality control happens prior to an employee being hired. Over the last year, we have enhanced our policies and procedures for all of our employees including new hires. TelCom performs criminal background checks, pre-employment drug testing, and runs a prospective employee's MVR. We have several policies in place for our employees to follow which include an AWAIR program, harassment policy, out of town policy as well as a confidentiality/invention assignment agreement just to name a few.
Our employees also receive performance evaluations, which pertain to knowledge of job, quality of work, level of productivity, safety and quality assurance. This is a tool for us to utilize in evaluating an employee's progress within the company. We have implemented a Process Improvement Program to address areas of concern and to mark areas of improvement. We want our employees to succeed and through these improvement programs we strive to have a quality workforce.
